of low pay but of deep respect and reverence.
In Nepal the schools have a good demand for English teachers. The Teaching
English program is challenging and rewarding. Normally in Nepal, a class
hosts 25-50 students with ages between 6-14 years. As English became a
second language in Nepal and the country wants her young generation to
stand out in international competition, effort in teaching English has
great value in Nepal. Besides teaching simple English, teachers are
involved in organizing games, sanitation, health education and other help
that the school might request. Conversational English is of great
importance to these children, as the local teachers are equipped to teach
Grammar and theoretical text. The TESOL course equips the teacher with
all the skills of teaching.
Often there is a unique opportunity to teach Buddhist monks in the serene
surroundings of a monastery. Most monasteries have resident monks from age
group divided into groups ranging from upper kindergarten (age 5yrs) to
class 9 (age 16/17yrs).
Teaching English may not remain restricted to schools. There is demand for
teachers in language schools and TESOL teachers can always cater to this
need. The learners may be school, college students, even trainees or
office staff. Such jobs are usually part time, twice a week for three
hours and extend for 3- 6 months. The job may pay on an hourly basis.
TESOL Trained teachers may also join jobs that involve in training the
corporate. English as a global language has permeated in trade and
commerce, so it is essential that companies ask for English speaking
abilities of their employees to interact with the international forum and
enhance the volume of business. Thus corporate trainers who teach business
English are highly paid professionals and TEFL training is the only
qualification required for the job.
The BPO industry of today needs fluent English speakers,
who also speak in accents. English teachers with a native accent, are
sought after to help train these callers in a neutral accent or native
English accent. Skills and techniques taught on the TEFL/ TESOL course
helps these teachers to help train the BPO staff acquire the right accent
and speaking skills needed for their industry. Even these trainers are
well paid for the job. |
