Kathmandu is renowned for the silver jewellry embedded in gemstones. It is
also a great place to shop for clothes. From funky clothes to elegant
silks all are available in the market. Mountaineering equipments also come
as ordered. Cultural artifacts may also be found in these markets, but it
is advised to look for genuine pieces... But most illegal antiques are
illegal to be sold and exported. Pashmina shawls and scarves are much
cheaper than Europe and may be a bargain. Electronics devices are
available very reasonable, due to the lack of sales tax and import duty on
electronics.
